WHAT WE DO

Capacity Building and Youth Empowerment

Through long-term capacity and political training for grassroots youth and numerous in-depth practical engagements with victim groups, AFRIEL promotes political participation in reconciliation and transitional justice and empowers the war-affected youth community in Northern and Eastern Provinces to engage in nationwide civil society movements.

Public Awareness-raising

AFRIEL is committed to advancing public awareness and understanding of social issues and the related legal procedures; to unifying the spirit of grassroots activism for social change. Our citizen watchers in more than a hundred villages across the country work closely with communities to support them in addressing the issues they prioritize, such as land, housing, and legal documentation.

Advocacy for Democratic Accountability

AFRIEL dedicates to facilitate solutions to human rights violation and governance issues through advocacy for democratic governance and role of youth. AFRIEL advocates for public policies that encourage transparency, accountability, access to information, and citizen participation in Sri Lanka.
