The Secret of Our Name: AFRIEL
AFRIEL is an abbreviation of “Association of Friendship and Love.” Founded on the belief that decades of war eroded trust, AFRIEL initiated ‘friendship clubs’ at the early stage of its establishment to encourage collective problem-solving and unity among communities in Sri Lanka.
The word “AFRIEL” itself carries a profound meaning – it stands as an acronym for “Angel of Youth,” symbolizing our dedication to nurturing the potential and dreams of the younger generation.
Our guiding light is simple:
- Empowering youth: We nurture the potential of young minds, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and the courage to be architects of their own dreams and active participants in shaping a better Sri Lanka.
- Standing for human rights: We stand steadfast in our belief that every citizen, regardless of background, deserves the full embrace of fundamental rights.
